Captivate San Francisco
German Accelerator Tech welcomed over 100 guests to the 8th edition of its Captivate event which took place in San Francisco’s Runway Incubator. Captivate features pitches of best-in-class German startups that have recently completed and graduated from German Accelerator Tech’s three-month acceleration and immersion program
German Accelerator CEO Dirk Kanngiesser kicked the event off with a short introduction and was followed by Silicon Valley Head of Operations Friedrich Sulk, who was leading the audience through the evening.
After the audience was introduced to the event rules, the pitches of the six startups, consisting of four Silicon Valley program participants as well as two guest pitches from German Accelerator Tech alumni companies, started:
BrandMaker – Organize your marketing management efficiently.
Building Radar – Number 1 search engine for construction product sales leads globally.
MeisterLabs develops smart and intuitive web apps that support your complete creative workflow from social brainstorming to collaborative task management.
VirtualQ provides a novel solution that waits on hold during long waiting times for callers of Contact- or Call-Centers. Callers do not need to wait on hold until virtualQ® alerts them to call back when it is their turn. This smart service improves customer satisfaction, service level, and cost structures substantially.
favendo helps brick-and-mortar retailers increase sales through a powerful system providing indoor location-based services to shoppers and in-depth analytics for retailers.
abusix – Tackling network threats at the source
After each pitch the judge panel consisting of Jack Smith (Startup Advisor / Angel), Patrick Guerra (Band of Angels) and Alexander Niehenke (Scale Venture Partners) provided immediate feedback for the startups’ products and their success potential in the U.S. market.
Highlight of the evening was the “Best Pitch Award”, for which the audience had the opportunity to vote for in real time. In the end, Building Radar convinced most people in the audience and was therefore allowed to choose one of four prestigious prizes: tickets for a conference of their choice, one full day of mentoring, three months of office space or a roundtrip flight from Germany to SFO.
Before and after the pitches, the attendees were provided opportunities to expand their professional network while engaging first-hand with some of Germany’s best startups at their individual demo tables.
