The Road from E-Bike Startup
to Logistics Company during a
U.S. Expansion
Guided by German Accelerator, RYTLE shifted from selling cargo e-bikes to offering full logistics solutions via micro-fulfillment centers.
The Challenge
As RYTLE expanded internationally, they faced legal challenges, with cities like Singapore and New York City rejecting their cargo e-bikes due to size restrictions and other regulations. Unable to operate in these locations, RYTLE shifted focus to other cities, soon realizing they needed to pivot beyond just geography.
How German Accelerator Helped
Having already participated in the India and Singapore Market Discovery programs with German Accelerator, RYTLE was familiar with the value of mentorship from local experts.
Through their work with startup mentors and industry professionals from German Accelerator, the RYTLE team realized they needed more than just a geographical pivot—their entire core offering had to evolve. Instead of simply selling cargo e-bikes, RYTLE transformed into a logistics service provider by offering micro-fulfillment centers in dense urban areas, integrating hardware, software, services, and personnel. This comprehensive ecosystem reduced costs and eliminated route redundancies for national and international shipping companies.
To facilitate this last-mile service, RYTLE also launched RytleX. This strategic shift from product to ecosystem would not have been possible without the guidance of German Accelerator mentors, who helped RYTLE effectively navigate and approach the U.S. market.
“It wasn’t until we participated in German Accelerator’s U.S. Market Access program that we realized how the U.S. market is different from the EU market.”
— Dr. Arne Kruse, Co-Founder of RYTLE
